Hello From Montreal – Part 2 – a comfortable ride in the train and first impressions

June 29, 2006

It was one day before Today I got up at 4:30 in the morning, and my husband left me at 5:45 in the season Toronto's historic Union. Several buses of young students and unload luggage and ready to enter the station. Around 6:00 am Via Rail counters open and since I am a first class ticket (called a track) has been achieved thanks to the Panorama Lounge, a special section with comfortable armchairs, complimentary newspapers and refreshments. Was my first time on a train in Canada and I was very pleased with the train travel experience and not having to fight my way through traffic driving Montreal.

Via 1 passengers have their own special announcements boarding and we went to the first car behind the locomotive. I sat in the seat and legs outstretched. Reclining seats away like a weary traveler has the opportunity to rest a little. Shortly after, he joined a gentleman, a businessman from Edmonton who had appointments in Toronto and now heading to Montreal for business functions. Ray kept me entertained with their family stories and humorous tales of growing up in Montreal and the time passed quickly as it began to roll the suburbs Toronto.

We stopped at the station Guildwood, then went out into the green farmland of Ontario farm. My bill includes also food service and soon we had breakfast, from a plate of fruit. For our main course for breakfast we had to choose between a ranch breakfast (an omelet Cheddar cheese and beef tenderloin served with roasted mini potatoes rosti, sautéed mushrooms and cherry tomatoes), the second option is stuffed pancakes with butter and jam served with cinnamon apple and cranberry bacon and maple syrup Quebec. Give my sweet, I opted for the pancakes.

At mid-morning, I felt a bit tired and apologized to Ray and said he would sit, relax and close their eyes a little because he had one in the morning. They both fell asleep for a Ray time and soon we will entertain throughout the compartment with a feeling of great talent lumberjack. I think cutting an entire forest of mature an hour and a half during our last section of Montreal. When he woke up in the suburbs of Dorion, he told me to never have a problem Sleeping on a train or a plane, and could believeme clearly demonstrated.

But overall, I enjoyed the race, especially after filming begins in the suburbs of Montreal. We crossed the old industrial zones, some still in their original condition, and some refunctioned renovated into condominiums. Montreal, a historic shipping and rail center, is one of the cradles of the industrial revolution in Canada and its industrial history, including tanneries, factories wordworking, brewing, shoe manufacturing, Miles textile, tobacco, snuff and rubber factories, all on display during Our train trip through the southern suburbs of Montreal.

The center of Montreal and skyscrapers came into view and I was very happy I begin my exploration of this fascinating city. Only about five hours after we had left our Toronto Via Rail train entered the station subway station (Central Station), which dates back to 1938, at 24:00. I took a taxi and I was surprised at the congestion in the street at mid-day. The driver commented on how the city was occupied at the moment. It seemed everyone was ready to do their work last time before the long weekend.

I arrived at the Holiday Inn downtown, located at 90 rue Viger and I realized that I in an ideal location in the heart of Chinatown Montreal. I was literally only 5 minutes from the church's largest and most impressive Montreal: the Basilica of Notre-Dame, Montreal City Hall was about 7 minutes across the street from the Place d'Armes metro station. It can not have a more convenient location. Find a hotel room in this long weekend of Canada Day, which falls on July 4 along incidentially weekend in the U.S. is certainly a precarious proposition, and I felt very happy that the downtown Holiday Inn had a room available for me. I left my luggage to the porter, as the room was not ready yet, and I was ready for my first adventure in Montreal: a personally guided tour driving through the center of the city that would give me a lay of the land.

advice garden hedge?

I want to grow a garden with my daughter 3 years. What are easy to grow plants, vegetables, herbs or other .. I would like to grow tomatoes, but I read about it and it seems quite the process. What is the best for someone starting OUT (and someone without a green thumb!) I've heard of using tea bags in the soil to support plant growth. If this attempt? Any other advice? I want to grow from seed, and I would try at least three different plants (or more) Also, I am in Ontario, Canada, then there is much sun in summer but less in winter, spring and fall .. and it is very cold by the window you use to sunlight. Thank you for reading! icon smile growing tomatoes ontario Tony I wanted to give a boost not a thumbs down! My finger slipped … icon smile growing tomatoes ontario This is an answer!

Hello .. Raine I'm in Ontario too soon I will also prepare to start my garden, so my vegetable plants ready for warmer weather .. It is not hard to do But only being planned. Firstly I would forget to use the window sill … unless her great talent his tall, thin plants .. 1. I take the seeds (Tomato.. Or other plants) and germinate them in a damp paper towel placed in a plastic zip bag. This allows keep the paper towel to dry .. It also makes it easy to see the seeds .. just open the paper towel to see if they germinate. 2. Use a seed tray or small individual pots for each plant … and plants. 3. Buy a light for good growth. Forget The Home Depot "grow Lights" these things simply .. too low at least that's my opinion .. T5 fluorescent bulbs get decent .. will pump enough light and make sure the light is .. only few inches above each floor low. He is also on it, but these 3 easy steps will provide a great success until you learn what works Here is a page for you quickly show you what I mean created light for growing plants for tomatoes and other vegetables.
